Books have been stated on this matter, and the disquiet and disharmony about where the "hot" slot machines are positioned in the casino are still ongoing - over 60 yrs after slots were first added to the gaming floor in casinos.

The traditional rule is that the superior slot machines were installed just inside the entrance of the casino; so that people walking by would be able to see real jackpot winners and be attracted to come unto the gambling floor and play. Our estimation is that this is not so anymore.

And the last thing a casino wants is for someone to win a jackpot by playing only a few coins and then not stay to put it all back in!
